And You'll Be God !

Everyone in this world, settles for something or another. Be it money, family, status, fame, dreams, societal welfare, ‘ultimate purpose of life’ the sad part is everyone thinks they are doing something practical, great. The only thing common between all these people is, they settle for something.

This idea of settling and compromising for something is part of the multitude of ‘the classical conditioning’ exercises that we are subjected to. Right from childhood, we are taught to adjust, sacrifice, compromise, settle for things somewhat lesser than what we usually yearn and crave for. Some people compromise in terms of their career due to financial issues, some others adjust with other issues like sacrificing sensual and material pleasures due to cultural and others related issues. Well, let us not be judgemental and view things as they are.

What happens when we settle for something? If we settle for a secure life with a family what is that we are losing? What is that we are losing if we settle for money and sacrifice our passion? What is that we are losing if we settle for something? I don’t know what we really miss, but I know for sure that, if we don’t settle for anything, life becomes worth living

Think about it. The moment you settle for money, money becomes your epicentre. You become attached to money. The moment you get attached to a secure life and family (marriage etc.), you live, but only in the shell of your secure life and family. If there is a threat to your shell, you become tensed. In other words, your strength lies only to the extent of your weakness (of your shell). Once someone threatens to fire you from your job, or kill your family members, you lose your composure, and more importantly, you will be ready to do anything to safeguard your shell. You may invent a time machine, but may sacrifice it for the sake of your family if there is a threat to your cosy little and supposedly warm shell. You always bask in the glory of your shell. In Other Words, you are not living like a man!!

Let us look at the situation in another perspective. Imagine yourself to be a kid. You don’t even know your identity, let alone your purpose of life. In these 24 years of my life, I am thoroughly convinced that everyone has an inner voice, conscience, which directs us to meet our ultimate purpose, and this journey is what gives us true joy, the joy that we are performing our duty, the joy that we are in the right track! 



Imagine you are extremely talented in modelling and you want to take modelling as your career. In case you are born in an orthodox family, you are not even supposed to watch such a fashion show, let alone taking modelling as your career. This, however conflicts with your inner voice. You love modelling, you want to explore life more informally. Now, once you start your journey, you will discover new things, even contradictory things, (but remember, by all means, it is definitely worth taking the daring step to follow your dreams, rather than passively being acted upon by circumstances. I am not blaming orthodox families, i am not even saying you have to convince them, so that you can take modelling as your career. All I am saying is follow your dreams. Sorry for the digression). However, do not settle for your dreams, fame, status, popularity, money, marriage, children, not even happiness.

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;

If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same;

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,

And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

  

   If you notice, you can perform all the above mentioned thinsg only when you are free of attachments, free of any shells you have created for yourself, free of any comforts etc. In short, it is possible, only if you do not settle for anything

In other words, listen to your inner voice and follow your dreams, but never get contended, never settle for anything, have that manly spirit within you. The Dream is just a way to realize your ultimate goal, and ironically, your ultimate goal is ‘simple living’, but living as if you are non-existent

The irony of achieving the ultimate purpose, is that, there is nothing like an ultimate purpose. I am saying this not by experience or something, but by using common sense. We humans have the tendency to create meaning out of small, little things in life, and sadly, we also have the ability to imagine, create and think. It is in our best interests and our need to create a purpose, so that we get motivated and interested in life. It is common sense, to say that the earth, the world owes nothing and expects nothing from us. No extra-terrestrial creature requires the help of a human being. In fact, even animals don’t require the help of a human being. Human beings have been evolved long after the earth and other creatures were created.

Remember, there is nothing called ‘Ultimate Purpose’. Ultimate purpose, is something like the sky and the clouds, it seems something beautiful, fascinating, something mysterious, somewhat like an elixir, but when we reach there, it is just a reflection. Similarly, purpose, dreams are nothing but reflections of man’s needs and his perceptions. All the great sages and rishis in the ancient world, channelized their energies, to really understand the potential and purpose of human life, but discovered that there is nothing out there which is to be done to nature and this planet. The planet can and will take care of itself. It is just that, now that human beings are given various capabilities, it becomes crucial to control and channelize the energies, so that everyone lives in peace.

In summary, do not settle for dreams, purpose, happiness, money, family, status, fame or anything for that matter.

The great secret about life is, if you can yearn and crave for something truly, and control your desires, the things which you yearn for, will automatically come to you. The yearned things, are just like any other person. If you truly love a girl, yet control your desire, naturally, the girl is attracted to you. It is the simple principle of pressure difference, temperature difference. Wind flows from higher pressure to a lower pressure. Heat flows from a higher temperature body to a lower temperature body. That is why, they advise a disciple to be humble, obedient to a guru. So that even knowledge can be transferred seamlessly.

Hence, yearn, crave, but at the same time control your desire, do not settle for anything. Then and only the, everything comes to you. In short, you are god

Hence, My definition of god is: The one who does not settle for anything!!!
